Death of Jas. M. Whiteaker
James M. Whiteaker died at his home in Edina, Friday afternoon, Apr 8. Mr. Whiteaker was one of the oldest residents of the county and had been a prominent and well known citizen for many years. His health had been failing during the past year and an attack of pneumonia some time ago left him considerably weakened. He had however about recovered and was able to be about. He was down town on Wednesday but took sick that night and died two days later. Mr. Whiteaker was past 83 years old. The funeral services were held Sunday at the M. E. church, conducted by Rev. C. R. Wade, and the burial was at the Linville cemetery. His wife and nine children, seven sons and two daughters survive him. The sons are George, John, Jonas, Dug, Ivory, Jess and El. Geo. lives near Knox City and Jonas near Kenwood. The other sons are all residents of Edina. The daughters are Mrs. Lizzie Ellison, wife of Robt. Ellison, of near Knox City, and Mrs. Sarah Douglass, on near Withmathville.
