Mar. 23, 1911, P. 2:

The congregation at the M. E. Church was greatly shocked when Bro. Lane announced that he would preach the funeral of Mrs. Grubb, Wednesday at this place as we had not learned of her sickness. She died at the home of her son, Charles Douglas, in Kirksville. Her home had been in Arbela for the last twelve years. Aunt Belle, as we all called her, through the love we had for this dear old lady, was always ready to care for the sick and speak words of cheer and comfort to us when death visited our homes. The church and ladies aid society has lost a loyal member but our loss is her gain. She was 73 years, 11 months, and 7 days of age. She leaves to mourn her death four sons--Charles Douglas, Edgar Douglas and Thomas Allen of Kirksville, and William Douglas of Rutledge, also two stepchildren, Scott Grubb and Martha Tennant of Arbela. Funeral services were held at the M. E. Church, Wednesday, at 12 o'clock, Rev. Lane officiating, after which the remains were taken to Hickory Grove cemetey and laid to rest beside her last husband, James Grubb. We extend our sympathy to her bereaved children.
