Edward W. Casolare
Edward W. Casolare, 81, of Cherry Valley Turnpike, Marietta, and formerly of Mattydale, died Wednesday at home after a long illness.
A native of Syracuse, Mr. Casolare lived more than 70 years in Mattydale before moving to Marietta 10 years ago. He retired in 1967 after 40 years as a mechanic with Greyhound Bus Lines in Syracuse. His wife, Irma, died in 1985.
Mr. Casolare was a life member of the Mattydale Volunteer Fire Department and a member of Centerville Lodge F&AM, and the Tigris Temple Shrine.
Surviving are four daughters, Irma Varre of Callabash, N.C., Mary Lou Coon of North Syracuse, Diane Twiss of Syracuse and Sandra Transue of Liverpool, four sons, Walter E. of Marietta, Edward W. of Camillus and Ronald F. and David, both of West Monroe, four sisters, Mary Fay and Grace Brutcher, both of Cicero, and Eva Hains and Beatrice Coir, both of Mattydale, Benjamin of Canastota and Frank of Seminole, Fla., 23 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Krueger Funeral Home, Mattydale. Burial will be in White Chapel Memory Gardens, DeWitt.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, 2307 Brewerton Road.
Contributions may be made to Shriner's Crippled Children's Hospital, in care of the Tigris Temple Shrine.
