Harold W. Casolare, 91, of Mattydale, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 28, 2008. Harold was a native of Syracuse and a life resident of Mattydale; he was the son of the late Walter W. and Mary Casolare. Harold retired in 1998 after 60 years as the owner and operator of Harold's Jewelry Repair Shop. He played violin for the Onondaga Civic Symphony Orchestra for many years and sang with the Syracuse Chorale. He enjoyed bowling, golfing and playing pool and shuffleboard. He was a member of North Syracuse Baptist Church and sang in their choir. Harold was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, the former Laura Carleton, in 1999 and by their daughter, Marie. Surviving are seven daughters, Laura "Cookie" (Glenn) Ritchie of Pennellville, Christina (Peter) Hollander of Mechanicsburg, PA, Rita (George) Orner of Taylors, SC, Cynthia (Jake) Burghardt of Phoenix, NY, Jayne (Mark) Brayton of Concord, NC, Irene (Patrick) Magdziuk of Liverpool and Dorothy (Glen) Bahadur of Mattydale; his son, Harold "Bud" (Marion) Casolare Jr. of Kirkville; his sister, Beatrice Coir of Mattydale; his brother, Charles Casolare of Palm Harbor, FL; 24 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, October 25, at North Syracuse Baptist Church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
