Eve Catherine Kuntzman Hines died on September 24, 1890 in Beaver, Ohio, at the age of 72 yrs 4 mos and 20 ds. She was born May 4, 1818 in Westheim, Germersheim Pfalz, Bavaria Germany, to Melchoir & Christena Barbara Eliza Hartmus Kuntzman. She was 20 yrs old when she immigrated to the USA in 1838, along with her parents and sister, Eva Barbara Kuntzman who was 14 yrs of age. With them on the passenger list was her betrothed, Christian Hines, aged 21. They departed Germany, sailing from Le Havre, France on the passenger ship, Charlemagne, and arrived in New York Harbor on August 11, 1838. Upon admittance into the US, they immediately started the last trek of their journey to the rich farmlands of Ohio, where she and Christian Hines were married a few weeks later on September 23, 1838 in Pike County. They lived the rest of their lives in this area, farming and raising a family. She and Christian were the parents of 11 children, 9 being raised to adulthood; Anna Margaretha Heinz was the firstborn of Christian Heinz and Catherine Kuntzman, born Jan 22, 1838 in Westheim, Germany, christened on Jan 23, and she died March 23, 1838, just before they left for America; this birth was before their documented US marriage. Anna Margaretha was buried in the old Westheim village cemetery on Mar 25, 1838. Children born in America were: Barbara Eva, Adam, George Jacob, Anna Margaret, Christopher, Christina Barbara, Catherine Eva, Mary Barbara and Martin M. A son, Jacob, died at age 8 yrs.
