Herman Leo Steiner, 84, of St. Joseph passed away Monday, March 21, 2011 in Cameron, Mo.
He was born June 5, 1926 in Clarksdale, Mo., the son of Alma and Julius Steiner. He married Lola Leek on August 21, 1960 in Norman, Okla. He served in the Army and is a veteran of the World War II, serving in the Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns, as well as the liberation of the Philippines. For his service, he was awarded two bronze stars. He retired from St. Joseph Glass Co. in 1986. He was a Christian.
Herman was preceded in death by his father, Julius Richard Steiner; mother, Alma Steiner; daughter, Jan Christenson; step son, Steve Smith; sister, Irene Beers; sister, Twila Norris; sister, Ila Higdon; and sister, Erma Kelly.
Survivors include wife, Lola Steiner of St. Joseph; son, Rex Steiner of Woodland, Colo.; son, Reggie Steiner of Minneapolis, Minn.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and half brothers, Thomas and Gist Steiner. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Rupp Chapel. Family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday at the Rupp Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery.
