Frances Ann Mikl McCowan
Frances Ann Mikl McCowan, 92, formerly of Coatesville, died on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at the Susquehanna Valley Nursing Home of Columbia, Pa., where she had resided for the past year.
She was the widow of Aaron Thomas McCowan who died on December 19, 1994.
Born July 22, 1919, in Parkesburg, Mrs. McCowan was a daughter of the late Jacob and Frances Schmidt Mikl. She was a first generation American, her parents having immigrated from Hungary in the early 1900's.
A 1936 graduate of Parkesburg High School, Frances was employed at the former Woolworth Department Store in Coatesville, at the Gift Shop at the Coatesville Hospital and was a healthcare worker. She was a housekeeper for several households in the Coatesville area.
Mrs. McCowan is survived by two sons; Ronald T. McCowan, husband of Arloa, of Newtown, Pa., and Rodney G. McCowan, husband of Joan, of Denver, Pa.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The last of her generation, she was preceeded in death by her sisters, Helen Conover, Mary Miller Berstler, Theresa "Tessie" Silver, Mathilda "Tillie" Warren, and Margaret Mikl, who died in infancy. Also, her brothers, Charles "Ches" Mikl and Jacob, her twin.
The memorial service will be held on Monday, January 30, at 2 P.M. at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg.
Interment in the Parkesburg Catholic Cemetery.
Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing, which will be held from 1:30 until 2 P.M.
