Mr. Roscoe Shofner, 50, of the Old Maple Community in Taylor County, Campbellsville, Star Route, son of Mr. W.S. Shofner & Mrs. Lillie Hedgespeth Shofner, was born in Taylor Co., KY August 1, 1923. He died suddenly at 2:45 p.m., Sunday, August 26, [1973] en-route to the Taylor County Hospital in Campbellsville. He had professed faith in Christ early in life and was a member of the Zion Separate Baptist Church. He was also a veteran of WW II. He united in marriage to Mrs. Audrey Thompson Shofner December 13, 1947. To this union 3 daughters and 4 sons were born. Wesley Roscoe Shofner died in infancy. Surviving are Mr. Jerry Shofner at home, Mrs. Sharon Gabbert of Campbellsville, Mr. Kenneth Shofner of Jeffersonville, IN, Miss Diane Shofner and Mr. Larry Shofner, both of Ocean Springs, MS, and Mrs. Linda Sumrall of Perkinson, MS. Besides his wife and children, he is also survived by 1 stepdaughter; Mr. Russell Wayne Shofner of Jeffersonville, IN, and Miss Shelli Marie Shofner of Ocean Springs, MS; and 3 step-grandchildren: Miss Treva Gabbert of Campbellsville and Mr. Mark Sumrall and Miss Rhonda Sumrall, both of Ocean Springs, MS. He is also survived by his father and mother: Mr. W.S. Shofner & Mrs. Lillie Hedgespeth Shofner of Campbellsville; 3 brothers and 3 sisters: Mr. Herman Shofner of Campbellsville, Star Route, Mr. John B. Shofner of Finley, Rt. 2, Mrs. Lucy Skaggs of Raywick, Mr. Thomas Shofner, Mrs. Ruth Gunn and Mrs. Nora Sprowles, all of Louisville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 28, at the Zion Separate Baptist Church by Rev. J.H. Bloyd and Rev. Robert Morris. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers: Winsfred Skaggs, Eugene Wright, James Allen, Charles Skaggs, Garland Lewis and Garland Skaggs. Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville was in charge of arrangements.
