TAYLOR COUNTY KENTUCKY OBITUARY – 1975
Mr. Wesley S. Shofner, 84, a retired farmer of 705 Jackson Street in Campbellsville, son of the late Mr. John Marshall Shofner & Mrs. Nancy Ann Hedgespeth Shofner, was born in Taylor Co., KY, October 14, 1890. He died at 8:05 p.m., Thursday, July 10, 1975, at the Taylor County Hospital in Campbellsville. He had been a patient at the Medco Center of Campbellsville for the past 3 years. He had professed faith in Christ early in life and was a member of the Zion Separate Baptist Church. He united in marriage to Miss Lillie Hedgespeth, September 28, 1911. To this union 4 sons and 6 daughters were born. Audrey Mae Shofner, Nancy Ann Shofner, and Opal Evelyn Shofner died in infancy. Mr. Roscoe Shofner preceded his father in death August 26, 1973. Surviving are Mr. Herman Shofner of Campbellsville, Star Route; Mrs. Lucy Skaggs of Campbellsville, Route 1; Mr. John B. Shofner of Finley, Route 2; Mr. Thomas Shofner of Harned, KY; Mrs. Nora Sprowles and Mrs. Ruth Gumm, both of Louisville. Besides his wife, Mrs. Lillie Shofner of Campbellsville, and children, he is also survived by: 33 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 12, at the Zion Separate Baptist Church in Campbellsville by Rev. Robert Morris and Rev. Garlen Skaggs. Burial was in Zion Church Cemetery. Pallbearers: J.C. Shofner, David Skaggs, Virgil Shofner, Dorman Shofner, William Shofner and Kenny Shofner.
