Mrs. Lillie Hedgespeth Shofner, 80, of Rt. 4, Campbellsville, formerly of the Zion community in Taylor County, daughter of the late Mr. Bluford Hedgespeth & Mrs. Lucy Underwood Hedgespeth, was born in Taylor Co., KY, May 9, 1896. She died at 4 p.m., Friday, January 21, 1977, at Taylor County Hospital. She had been a patient at Medco Center of Campbellsville. She had professed faith in Christ early in life and was a member of Zion Separate Baptist Church. She united in marriage to Mr. Wesley Shofner, September 28, 1911. He preceded her in death July 10, 1975. To this union 6 daughters and 4 sons were born. Opal Evelyn, Nancy Ann, and Audrey Mae Shofner all died in infancy. Mr. Roscoe Shofner preceded his mother in death August 26, 1973. Surviving are Mr. Herman Shofner of Campbellsville, Star Route; Mrs. Lucy Skaggs of Campbellsville, Rt. 3; Mr. John B. Shofner of Finley, Rt. 2; Mr. Thomas Shofner of Harned, KY; and Mrs. Nora Sprowles and Mrs. Ruth Gumm, both of Louisville. She is also survived by: 34 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Mrs. Betty Johnson of Campbellsville, Star Route; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m., Monday, January 24, at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Chapel in Campbellsville by Rev. Robert Morris and Rev. Garlen Skaggs. Burial was in Zion Separate Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Billy Price, J.C. Shofner, David Skaggs, Gary Skaggs, Dale Sprowles and Kenny Shofner.
