DAVENPORT — Mildred L. Schneff, 103, of Davenport, died Friday, November 11, 2011, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Services in celebration of her long life will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 15, at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport, where her family will greet friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. The family's preference would be that memorials may be made to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Mrs. Schneff was born in 1908 in Davenport to William and Hulda Paarmann. She married Henry Schneff 8 May 1940 in Iowa City (first husband Roy Henry Jugenheimer), and together they owned and operated Schneff's Jewelers, Davenport. He died January 24, 1990. Throughout her life she gardened and was an accomplished musician, having played in the former Tri City Symphony where her father was concertmaster. She was also an avid outdoors woman who loved to catch and eat fish. She continued to be an amazingly active woman past age 100, and attributed that to eating right, exercising and keeping family and friends close.
Survivors include her daughters, Joy (Roger) Reimers of Davenport, and Charleen Thompson of Barrington, Ill.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Ralph (Florence) Paarmann of Davenport.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Warren, grandson, Phil Thompson, sisters, Harriet, Claire, Ruth and Fay, and brothers William, Carl and Walter.
