Funeral serivces for Mable Victoria Bales, 85, Birch View Manor, Birch Tree, will be held Wed in the Rose Chapel, Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, West Plains, with the Rev. Bill Blaes officiating. Mrs. Bales died Monday at St. Francis Hospital, Mountain View, MO. She was born April 1, 1896, in Rover, the daughter of the late George W. and Amanda Tatum Jolliff.
She received her education at Rover.
On Sept 28, 1910 she was married at Rover to Posey Franklin Bales, who preceded her in death, July 12, 1977.
For a number of years she had been employed as a cook and bus driver for the Thomasville School District.
Mrs. Bales had been of the Baptist faith since young womanhood, her present membership being in the Thomasville Baptist Church where she had been a member for many years.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Doyle (Jewell) Pierce, Birch Tree, MO; Lelia Parvin, Armona, CA; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren. three brothers, Everett Jolliff and Eugene Joliff, both of Peoria, IL; Homer Jolliff, St. Clair, MO; 2 sisters, Evelyn Ray, Southerland, OR; Clara Mustion, Long View, WA; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one infant daughter, three brothers, Cecil, Leslie and Nate Jolliff, and one sister, Edith Mobley.
The family will receive friends this evening at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be Oak Lawn Cemetery under the direction of the Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. West Plains, MO.
