Albert Kenneth Kniffen Sr, 82, a resident of Amenia from 1936-1982, died Wednesday in Lincoln, Del. Born Sept 23, 1912 in Klinekill, Ulster County, he was the son of Edward & Daisy Bell Coddington Kniffen. In 1982, he married the former Olga Sherman, who survives at home. He was predeceased by his first wife, Katherine Ward Kniffen, in 1981; five brothers and five sisters. Surviving are two sons, Albert "Bud" Kniffen and Peter Kniffen, both of Amenia; three daughters, Donna Whalen, Dover Plains, Alberta Darnell & Linda Hamilton, both Amenia; two sisters, Elizabeth MacDowell and Dorothy Alther, both of Accord; three stepsons, John Smith, Highland; Paul Sherman, Milford, Del; Webster Sherman, Knoxville, Tn; two stepdaughters, Carol DeCote, Lincoln, and Brenda Tompkins, New Paltz; 10 grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren; and many step great grandchildren. Burial Amenia Island.
