Ernest W. Bumpus of Springfield, Illinois died March 10, 1973 at his residence. He was born in Glenarm, IL in 1919 the son of Aloysius J and Catherine M. (Pike) Bumpus, they preceded him in death along with an infant son Gerald W. Bumpus. He was married to Lela G Dodge on July 31st 1948 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Springfield Illinois.
He is survived by his wife; daughter Janet (Daniel) Petrilli of Springfield; two sons, L-Cpl. Donald Bumpus of USMC Cherry Point, NC and James Bumpus at home; granddaughter, Nichole Petrilli of Springfield. Five Sisters, Edna Jenlicka of Gainsville, FL, Theresa "Chick" (Calvin) Robinson, Catherine (Jim) Hamilton and Barbara (Edward) Williams, all of Springfield, Martine "Tena" (Edward) Hickey of Virden. Three brothers, John (Eillin) of Girard, Robert (Helen) and James (Patricia) Bumpus, both of Springfield.
Services were held at St. Aloysius Church with the Rev. Robert Franzen officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.
