James Luther Burrell died September 20, 2011 at Montfort Jones Hospital in Kosciusko.
Visitation will be held at Durant First Baptist Church Friday, September 23 from 9:00am until service time at 11am. Burial will follow in Sallis Cemetery. Reverend Jerry Bishop and Reverend Gene Richardson will officiate. Southern Funeral Home of Durant is in charge of arrangements.
James was born in Sallis, Mississippi on June 15, 1922 to Lula Griffin and John Calhoun Burrell.
He graduated from Mississippi State University, was a retired welding instructor from Holmes Community College, a World War II army veteran, a mason with lodge #24 in Lexington, and a member of First Baptist Church in Durant.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Corine Feather Burrell of Durant, MS, Sons and daughter in laws, Wayne (Carol) Burrell of Durant; Luther (Judy) Burrell of Kosciusko; Richard (Denise) Burrell of Zebulon, GA; brother, Trent Burrell of Canton ; sisters: Clydie Dickerson of Durant, Doris Ables of Carrollton, and Bess Stough of Houston, TX; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 132 West Mulberry, Durant, MS 39063
