Bess Burrell Stauch was born February 1, 1930 in Sallis, Mississippi to Oliver and Lula (McGriff) Burrell. She passed from this life on May 1, 2016 in Houston, Texas. Bess was known for her sense of humor, generous hospitality, and endless energy. Her strong convictions were tempered by a gentle disposition. She created beauty around herself in all that she did.
Bess is survived by her husband Jack Stauch, who she married on August 10, 1952, and daughters Kathryn Garcia-Rivera (Gordon Imrie) and Sally Harrington (Bruce). Five grandchildren, Elisabet (Brandon) West, Sophia Garcia-Rivera, Tyler, Stuart, and James Harrington and one brother, Trent Burrell.
She is preceded in death by sisters, Lou Willie Burrell, Clydie Dickerson, Clara Myers, Cathrine Hague, Doris Abels and Bobbie Mullen, and by brothers, Sammy, James, Oliver, Maxie and Frank, and son-in-law Alex Garcia-Rivera.
Bess was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and was part of many activities there including president of Faith Lutheran Women, church council, choir, memorial committee and pre-school Sunday school superintendent.
She was a retired teacher of home economics. She received her training at Arkansas State University and graduated from Ohio University. She began her teaching career at Amity High School and then at Mt. Vernon Middle School for over 30 years.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 9, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Snyder Funeral Home, Mt Vernon, Ohio.
Graveside Services will be held at Memorial Gardens, Mt Vernon, Ohio, Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 11:00 AM with pastor Mark Wildermuth officiating.
Memorial gifts may be made to Faith Lutheran Church.
