Funeral services are 11 a.m. today at First Baptist Church of Durant with burial in Mizpah Cemetery. Southern Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Mrs. Myers was born in Attala County to Oliver Calhoun and Ada McGriff Burrell on October 31, 1917. She grew up in Sallis and attended school there. She married Claude "Jack" Myers and they lived in Greenville, MS, and later moved to Durant. Mrs. Myers was a member of First Baptist Church of Durant where she was a member of the Mamie Clark Sunday School class. She was also an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star for many years.
Mrs. Myers worked as a bookkeeper for A&B Milling Company, and served as cafeteria manager of Durant Public Schools until she retired. Mrs. Myers loved spending time with her family and her many friends. Everyone who knew her loved her. If anyone was going somewhere, she was always ready to go.
Mrs. Myers was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her family including son, Charlie Myers (Marilyn) of Yazoo City; daughter, Betty McBride (Clarence) of Durant; daughter, Donna McLellan (Terry) of Durant; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Clydie Dickerson of Durant, Mrs. Doris Ables of Carrollton, and Mrs. Bess Stauch of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; two brothers, Mr. James Burrell of Durant and Mr. Trent Burrell of Canton.
