Former Tulare Resident dies in Oakland; Funeral Sunday: Funeral services for Mrs. Lydia Dirkes, 49, well known resident of Tulare who passed away in Oakland
Thursday following a brief illness will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the first Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Leo C. Kline.

Deceased was the daughter of S. R. Gulley a local Pioneer. And although a native of Virginia, came to Tulare with her parents as a child and had spent practically all of her entire life here, moving north less than a year ago. She was an active member of the local Methodist Church, and during her 30 year residence here made a wide circle of friends who regret her untimely passing.

Besides her husband A.G. Dirks and parents, deceased leaves four sisters, Mrs. L. G. Mires of Taft, Mrs. H. S. Mann of Bakersfield and Mrs. W. A. Neal of Bakersfield, Mrs. J.M. Setliff of Bakersfield, and toe brothers Alvis and Fred Gulley of Tulare.

F. W. Goble is in charge of the arrangements with burial in the Tulare Cemetery.
