ALVIS GULLEY PASSES AT HOME HERE
Alvis Gulley died at his home, 233 South F Street, Sunay morning following an extended illness. He was 61 years old.
Born in Virginia May 13, 1881. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. S.R. Gulley,both deceased. The family moved to Texas when he was a child, later coming to Tulare in 1895. On a visit to St. Clair. Tennessee, 1n 1907, Mr Gulley married Julia Gulley who survives him.
He engaged in farming west of Tulare for a while, then was employed by the county under R.C. Sturgen for a number of years. For the past 14 years he was custodian for the Roosevelt School. Due to illness he resigned a year and a half ago.
Through his many years of residence in this community, Mr. Gulley won the respect and admiration of all who knew him.
In addition to his widow he leaves the following relatives. One daughter Mrs. Freddie Graham of Colusa; Three sisters, Mrs. J.M. Setliff, Tulare, Mrs. Frank May of Visalia, Mrs W.A. Neal of Oildale; one brother Fred Gulley of Visalia; a niece Loretta Nicholson of Tulare; and five nephew and three nieces in Texas.
Funural services will be conducted at 9:30 o'clock Tuesday morning at the Goble Parlors here. (obit added by Audrey DeCamp Hoffman)
