Services for Ray Bates, of Cambridge R.D. 5, will be conducted Friday at 1 P.M. at the McCracken Funeral Home with additional services at 2:30 P.M. at Bates Hill Church, Noble County. Ted Bates will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery,

Mr. Bates, 66, was a son of the late Sim and Mary Kirkbride Bates. Surviving are four sons and two daughters and eight brothers, Harley, Irwin, Clyde and Frank of the Bates Hill community, Garfield of Zanesville, William of Caldwell, Peter of McConnelsville and Robert of Gibson Station; one sister, Mrs. Daisy Sayres of Caldwell; 27 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Two brothers are deceased.
