Caldwell - Clyde Bates, 79, Summerfield, died at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the home of Mrs Myrtle Biedenbach, Lewisville RD 1.
A son of Simeon and Mary Kirkbride Bates,, he was born Aug 6, 1881. A retired farmer, he was a life-long resident of Noble County. He was a member of Bates Hill Church of Christ.
Besides his widow, Marie Barnes Bates, Mr Bates leaves a daughter, Linda Kay of the home; four brothers, Garfield of New Washington, Peter of Caldwell and Frank and Harley of Summerfield.
His first wife Nellie Stevens Bates, six brothers and one sister are deceased.
The body is at McVay Funeral Home here where friends may call. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Bates Hill Church of Christ by Evangelist H.W. Bankes. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
