Caldwell - Services for Peter Bates, 84, a retired Noble County farmer, will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home by the Rev John D Sutton and McKinley Bates, with burial in the Bates Hill Cemetery near Batesville.
Mr Bates died early Monday in his home at 832 Lewis St following a long illness. A son of Simon and Mary Kirkbride Bates, he was born Oct 3, 1878 in Noble County and was a member of the First Church of Christ of Caldwell.
In addition to his widow, Cloma, he leaves a son, Edgar of Belle Valley; three brothers, Frank and Harley of Batesville and Garfield of New Concord. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. today.
