Marjorie Vivian (Steiner) Heitz, 89, St. Joseph, Mo. passed away Sept 15, 2011 at the Groves in Independence, Missouri.
Marjorie was born April 15, 1922 on a farm near Amity, Mo. She was the 2nd of 11 children born to Jennie Ann (Hlavac) and Ernest Frank Steiner. She married Herbert Harold Stewart, 22 Jul 1940, at Maysville, Mo. They divorced September 1946. Carolyn and Darrel were born to this marriage.
She married Franklin Taft, 24 Dec 1949, at Savannah Ave. Baptist, St. Joseph, Mo. He died 09 Jan 1969 in a work accident. Frank Taft Jr. was born to this marriage.
She married Elmer Lee Heitz, 23 Dec 1971, at St. Joseph, Mo. Elmer died 14 Nov 1999 in St. Joseph. They met at the church she attended.
Marjorie was employed at Noma Lites, Whitaker Cable and Custom Cable. When not employed she babysat and did laundry for others so she could help provide for her three children. She also was active at Central Christian Church since 1972. For 10 years she taught Sunday School for 4 and 5 year old. She tried to live a Christian life but was human. She enjoyed life no matter the circumstance.
Most of her life was spent in St. Joseph, except for living short periods in south Mo, Wathena, Ks, Tucson, Az. and The Groves nursing home in Independance, Mo.
She is survived by three children Carolyn Sue (Bill) Haman of Sugar Creek, Mo., Darrel Ray (June) Stewart of Tucson, Az. and Franklin (Judy) Taft Jr. of St. Joseph, Mo. Also survived by siblings Ernest Charles Steiner of Independance, Mo., Evelyn Ripper of St. Joseph, Mo., James Everett (Georgia) Steiner of Amity, Mo., William Howard Steiner of Carson, Ca., Wayne Ray (Shirley) Steiner of St. Joseph, Mo. and Franklin D. (Lois) Steiner of Forsyth, Mo. Also five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and many step-grandchildren/great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, sisters Mary Ann Steiner (infant) and Lorraine Marie Zoubek, brothers Richard Francis Steiner and Milton Alfred Steiner. Grandson Michael Stewart (FAG # 57396808) also preceded her. She outlived all three of her spouses.
Services: 10:00 A.M., Monday, Central Christian Church. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The Family will receive friends 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. Sunday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Memorials may be made to Kendallwood Hospice or Central Christian Church, both of St. Joseph. Mrs. Heitz will be removed from Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory to arrive at the church one hour prior to the service. She is buried between her husbands Frank and Elmer.
