He attended Woods School, served in the USA Army in Germany after WWII for 3 years.
Worked at Quaker Oats in St. Joseph and married Norma Brown 23 June 1956 in Independence, Mo.
Renee and Karen were born while they were living in St. Joseph.
They moved to Independence and Charles worked at Allis Chalmers and then Lipton Tea.
Norma passed away 26 Nov 2010.
Charles died at home in Independence from kidney failure.
He is survived by his two daughters, Renee and Karen, and grandsons AJ and Austin. Also siblings Evelyn, Bill, Wayne and Franklin.
Proceeded in death by parents, brothers Francis, Everett and Alfred and sisters Mary Ann, Lorraine and Marjorie.

Ernest "Charles" Steiner, 88 of Independence, Mo., passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on Feb. 12, 2013.
Funeral services will be noon Friday, Feb. 15, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Noland Road Chapel, 509 S. Noland Road, Independence. Burial to follow in Mount Washington Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contribution to Grace Hospice, 9233 Ward Pkwy., Suite 201, Kansas City, MO 64114.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Norma L. Steiner, an infant daughter, three brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by two daughters, Renee and husband, Alan Jobe, of Independence, and Karen Steiner of Sugar Creek; two grandsons, A.J. Jobe and Austin Jobe of Independence; three brothers; and one sister.
The family would like to thank the staff of Grace Hospice for their wonderful care and support.
