Services Held For Glenn Bateman
Funeral services for Glenn E. Bateman, 75, were held Tuesday, March 21, at 11 a.m. at the Funeral Home in Winthrop, with Rev. A.F. Schneck officiating. Interment was Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids at 2 p.m.
Mr. Bateman died at his home in Winthrop on Saturday, March 18, 1972.
Glenn Edward Bateman, the son of William and Margaret Kearns Bateman, was born November 28, 1896, at Central City, Iowa. On September 1, 1920, he was united in marriage to Vivian Pennington at Marion, Iowa. During his lifetime he worked as a carpenter, electrician and caponizer.
He was a member of El Kahir Shrine, a charter member of the Eagles, and a 50-year member of the American Legion.
He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Loyd (Floy) Smith of Central City, and numberous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, five sisters and two brothers.
Casket bearers were Marvin Bateman, James Bateman, Donald Bateman, Marvin Reed, Lee Bossom and John Sheeley. Honorary casket bearers were Henry Bateman and Virgil Bateman.
