Chattahoochee Valley Times
Date: Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1948

Carey Andrew Black

The body of Carey Andrew Black, forty-three year-old Plante City man, was found Tuesday morning caught on a trot line in the Chattahoochee river. He had been missing since Saturday.

A result of the corner's inquest has not been annunced but it was thought he died from drowning.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, aftenoon at the Schnedl-Jones Funeral Home by the Rev. Harden Pearson. Interment was in Shawmut cemetery.

Mr. Black was a native of Tallapoosa county and is survived by his wfie, Mrs. Mattie Black, and seven chldren, Mrs. Doris Davis of Lanett, John Davis, Jewel Faye, Franklin Lee, Mary Alice, Kenney Taylor and Flora Jean of Plant City. Also a brother, John Black of LaGrange.

The Town of Shawmut is now part of the City of Valley, Al. Obit. has named spelled Carey and Marker has it spelled Cary
