Eldon Warwood Whiteley

MELBA — Eldon Warwood Whiteley, 64, of Melba, died Monday, Sept. 26, 1988, at a Melba hospital of natural causes.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at the Melba Ward Chapel, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Bishop Norman E. Alder will officiate. Burial will he held at 5:30 p.m. at the Middleton Cemetery with military rites by the Divan-Sloniker Post 126, American Legion, Melba.

Mr. Whiteley, a heavy equipment operator, was born Oct. 8, 1923, in the home of his parents, Myron and Kate Warwood Whiteley near Letha, Idaho. He attended Letha schools and graduated from Emmett High School in 1942. He entered the U.S. Army in 1943 and was honorably discharged on Feb. 20, 1946. He married June Arabell Woodruff on Feb., 9, 1945, at Weiser, and they were sealed on Aug. 11, 1961, in the Idaho Falls Temple.

He lived a life of service to his friends church, and community. Some of his service includes being a counselor in the Bishopric, Sunday School Superintendent, Mayor of Middleton, Middleton PTA President and chairing various other organizations.

Survivors include his wife, June A. Whiteley of Melba; two sons, Robert Eldon Whiteley, of Alameda, Calif., and Bill W. Whiteley of Middleton; six daughters, Shirley June Schmitz of Middleton, Eilleen Kate Waddell of Fruitland, Ruby Kathleen (Kathy) Mills of Middleton, Barbara Dee Stephenson of Twin Falls, Joan Lucille Newby of Spokane, and Geraldine LaDawn Whiteley a student of BYU in Hawaii; two brothers, Floyd Whiteley of Middleton, and Roy Whiteley of Emmett; four sisters, Thelma Ziegler of Emmett, Vera Benge of Boise, Evelyn Atkinson of Emmett, and Virginia Ombach of Salt Lake City; a brother-in-law, Melvin Vickery of Emmett, 29 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and 21 numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. His parents, a daughter, Carol Marie, an infant son, Steven Myron, a brother and two sisters died earlier.

Friends may call Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.; and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the family there to greet friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m,; and until 1:30 p.m. on Friday at Flahiff Funeral Chapel of Nampa.
