Roy Whiteley, 85, passed away at his home on Friday, March 4, 2011.

Services will be conducted Saturday March 12th 10:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Letha, ID. Burial will follow at the Emmett Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the Potter Funeral Chapel from 6-8 PM on Friday, and one hour prior to services at the church.

Roy was born on June 5, 1925, to Myron Whiteley and Kate Martha Warwood Whiteley in Emmett, Idaho. The eighth of ten children, he was reared and educated in Emmett.

Roy served in the Pacific Theater during World War II as an Army Medic. He married Marlyn House at his parent's home in Emmett on July 23, 1949. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple August 26, 1971.

Roy worked for Boise Floral as a bookkeeper, farmed in Middleton and then started a dairy farm in Emmett in 1958. He farmed until 2010 while also working as a bookkeeper for the Farmers Co-op Irrigation Company from 1968-1987, and was on the board of the Enterprise Ditch Company and the Canyon County Drainage Company.

While raising his family, Roy was active in the LDS Church, serving in many different callings.

Roy is survived by his sons: Dan (Cindy) Whiteley, of Emmett, and Brad (Janel) Whiteley, of North Pole, AK; daughters: Diane (George) Van Leuven, of Emmett, and Marlee (Jim) Terry, of Meridian; daughters-in-law, Tammy Courtenay, of WA, and Laurelle Whiteley, of San Francisco, CA; 22 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and sisters: Thelma Ziegler and Vera Benge, both of Emmett, and Virginia (Hank) Ombach, of St. George, UT.

Preceding him in death was his wife, Marlyn; sons, Brian and Kevin; three sisters and three brothers.

A special thank you to Treasure Valley Hospice for their loving care.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Treasure Valley Hospice, 8-6th St N #200, Nampa, ID 83686
