A 38-year-old Philadelphia Electric employee was found dead behind the wheel of his car this morning in the garage at his home in Rainbow.
Joseph Arasin, of 1090 West Lincoln Highway, was found by his brother, Leon, who made a quick investigation after receiving a call from the company. Arasin was schedule to be at work. He apparently died shortly after getting into his auto. The motor had not been started.
Deputy Coroner Thomas Monteith issued a certificate, listing the cause of death as a heart attack. The dead man was previously hospitalized and under a doctor's care for another ailment. His body was removed to the Archie Maclean funeral home here.
Arasin's brother, Walter, died two months ago as a result of a heart attack. His parents were the late Alice and William Arasin. Born in Brandamore, he lived in Coatesville and vicinity all his life.
A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army and saw intensive action in the European theatre of war, during which time he was wounded. Arasin was later cited by being awarded a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.
At the electric company he was employed in the maintenance department. He was well-known as a golfer and played frequently with the P.E. Club at Llanerch. He was also a member of St. Stanislaus church, West End Fire company, and Polish-American Citizens club, which he served as a trustee.
Surviving him in addition to his brother, Leon, are other brothers and sisters as follows: Andrew, of Rainbow; Jennie, wife of August Gregor, Rainbow; Anna, wife of Peter Andrews, Coatesville; William, of Rainbow, Helen, wife of Arpad Kuch, of Barley Sheaf Road; Stella, wife of Frank Goetter, of Philadelphia; and Stephen, of Modena.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at nine o'clock, at Archie S. Maclean's funeral home. High Mass of Requiem will be solemnized at ten o'clock in St. Stanislaus church. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Friends have been invited to call at the funeral home Wednesday evening.
