Leon A. Arasin, of Lancaster, formerly of Coatesville

Leon A. Arasin, 83, of Lancaster, formerly of Coatesville, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2010, while under the care of Hospice of Lancaster County.
He was the beloved husband of Genevieve Grabowski Arasin, with whom he shared 51 years of marriage.
Born in Brandamore, he was the son of the late William and Alexandra Han Arasin.
Leon graduated from Scott High School of Coatesville in 1945 and immediately entered the U.S. Army, serving in Germany with the occupation forces. After the war, he was employed by Lukens Steel Co. as a crane operator and foreman, retiring in 1977.
Leon was a parishioner and choir member of the St. Stanislaus Kosta Church. He was also a member of the Polish American Citizens Club in Coatesville, where he served as club secretary, the West End Fire Company, and the Coatesville Country Club where he had served as caddy master. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing basketball and had played on two championship teams in the Lukens and church leagues.
He is survived, in addition to his wife, by two children, Judith A., wife of Paul Munscher of East Fallowfield and David L. Arasin, also of East Fallowfield and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Arasin was the last survivor of 11 brothers and sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 14, at the St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, 209 W. Lincoln Highway, Coatesville, PA 19320, followed by interment at the St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery. The viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, and also from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Leon's memory to the St. Stanislaus Kostka Church at the above address; or the Chester County SPCA, 1212 Phoenixville Pike, West Chester, PA 19380.
