In ill health for sometime past, a Valley township man ended his life at 4:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon with a shotgun blast in the living room of his home near Rainbow schoolhouse.
He was William Arasin, Sr., aged 67 years, who submitted to a surgical operation three months ago at Coatesville hospital.
He used a single-barrel shotgun to blow of one side of his head as he sat on a davenport. He was found dead by his wife, Mrs. Alice Arasin, who was in the kitchen and rushed to the living room on hearing the report of the gun.
State Policemen G. F. Robinson and Joseph Hartman and Deputy Coroner Fred B. Manship were summoned. The later issued a certificate of suicide.
Born in Poland, Arasin came to the United States forty-nine years ago and had resided in the vicinity of Coatesville for the past forty years. For many years he was employed by the Bethlehem Steel company here, retiring several years ago.
Arasin was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic church, the Polish-American club, Coatesville Aerie of Eagles, and West End Fire company.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by ten children- Andrew, Coatesville RD 2; Jennie, wife of August Gregor, Coatesville RD2; Anna, wife of Peter Andrews, Brandamore; Walter, Coatesville; William, Jr., Coatesville RD 2; Joseph, Leon and Stephen, at home; Helen, wife of Arpad Kuch, East King's Highway, and Stella, wife of Frank Goetter, Jr., Philadelphia; also sixteen grandchildren.
ARASIN- Of West Lincoln Highway, Valley Township, Pa., suddenly on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 1949, William Asarin, Sr., husband of Alice Arasin, in his 68th year.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral without further notice from Archie S. Maclean's Funeral Home, 5th ave. and Lincoln Hwy., Coatesville, on Saturday, December 31st, at 10:30 a.m. No viewing. Friends may call to pay their respects at the funeral home Friday evening.
