In the 1860 census he lived and famed in Rural Rogersville,
where his estate was valued at $400.00. Catherine had presented him with 3 Children. His sister in law, Elizabeth Klepper, was living with them.
The 1870 census found him living in District 3, White Co, Tennessee, with the nearest P.O. was Cave. John was farming an estate that was values at $300.00. . His sister in law, Elizabeth Klepper, was still living with them.
By the 1980 census the John and family were living back in the rural Saint Clair area of Hawkins Co. The oldest son, William, was working on the farm and presumably 14 year old John and 9 year old Pete assisted with chores.
