Remer J. Dasher, Sr., 75, died Monday, February 4, 2002, at his residence. The Tattnall County, Georgia, native was a resident of Long County for the past 55 years. He was a retired farmer, a U. S. Army veteran of World War II, a former member of the Ludowici Masonic Lodge #227 F&AM, a former member of the Alee Shrine Temple of Savannah, and a former committee member of the Long County A.S.C.S. He was a member of Jones Creek Baptist Church.
Mr. Dasher was preceded in death by his wife, Miriam P. Dasher.
He is survived by four sons: R. Jimmy and Sandra Dasher of Claxton, Georgia; and Eddie and Barbara Dasher, Jeffery F. and Joyce Dasher, and Don Dasher, all of Ludowici, Georgia; three sisters: Fannie Lee Holland of Reidsville, Georgia; Dean King of Doerun, Georgia; and Anne Norberg of Glennville, Georgia; one brother, Thurman Dasher of Reidsville; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 6, at Jones Creek Baptist Church, with the Rev. Steve Stokes officiating. Burial was in Jones Creek Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were David Holland; Mark Dasher; Vernon Dasher, Jr.; Jimmy King; Damon Kennedy; and Dan Skipper.
Honorary pallbearers were Cecil Nobles, Jimmy Nobles, William Harrelson, Jack Costello, Don Allgood, Waldo Smith, Bennett Harrison, Billy Joe Parker, Jimmy Parker, Billy Williams, Dale Parker, Dr. Robert Pumpelly and Staff, Wayne Tatum, Kenny Waters, Hospice of South Georgia, Dr. Ronald Harris and Staff, Glenn Hussey, Gene Nasworthy, Ellis Garvin, Barney Durrence, Myrl H. Baxter, Jerrell Moody, and Frank Middleton.
