Verna Dean Dasher King, 87, of Doerun, Ga., died on Saturday, January 27, 2018.

Born July 14, 1930, in Tatnall County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Marcus Lafayette Dasher and Mattie Lou Jones Dasher.

Mrs. King was preceded in death by her husband, James H. King.

She was a homemaker, artist, musician, loving mother, and licensed cosmetologist. She was a member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church in Doerun, where she served as organist and pianist for many years.

Survivors include her daughter Gayla King Cobb and husband Bobby of Moultrie, daughter Robin King of Moultrie, son Jimmy King and wife Jackie of Doerun, daughter Lynn King Clark and husband Glen of Moultrie. Grandchildren include Ellen Cobb-Robinson and husband Jamie of Moultrie, Amy King Tatum and husband Joey of Tifton, Julie Ann Bundy and husband Stuart of Sale City, Jason Clark of Moultrie, Andrew Clark of Birmingham, and special grandson-by-love Colby Reneker of Valdosta. Great-grandchildren include Emily Cobb Robinson, Ethan Cobb Robinson, Anna Grace Bundy, Lauren Tatum, and Lydia Bundy. In addition, Mrs. King had a host of special caregivers, including many from Pruitt Health Hospice, who have become extended family members through the years.

Mrs. King’s siblings who have gone on before her include Katie Dasher Rushing, Vernon Dasher, Fannie Dasher Holland, Remer Dasher, Thurmon Dasher, and Anne Dasher Norburg.
