Deward George White, loving husband, father, and grandfather, returned to his Heavenly Father on August 12, 2011 after a brave battle with cancer.

Keeping his sense of humor, he endured to the end. He was a hero to his family and many others. He will forever be in our hearts. There are not enough words to describe what a great man he was.

Deward was born March 9, 1927 to Henry and Emily Jakeman White in Bicknell, Utah. He was the youngest of nine children. He served his country in the Army driving an ambulance in Korea. He was a machinist by trade but could fix anything.

Deward married Margie A. Hansen on April 15, 1950 and they had four children. He was later widowed and met Donna M. Dudley, also widowed, together with her five children they blended their families into one on June 10, 1965. Later they had one child together.

He enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors. A few of his favorite things were dancing, singing, and playing his guitar. Deward was a faithful man dedicated to serving others in his many church callings including Bishop and High Council. He enjoyed working as a temple worker in the Jordan River Temple for ten years. He spent countless hours working as a family history coordinator doing genealogy work.

Survived by his wife, Donna; children: Steve (Delana) White, Wayne White, Russ (Cathy) Dudley, David (Pam) Dudley, Deward (Shannon) White, DeAnn (Mike) Cleveland, Emily (Joe) Syme, Robert (Penny) Dudley; Jane (Scott) Toly, and Michelle (Ryan) Lunceford; thirty-two grandchildren; forty-two great-grandchildren Preceded in death by his first wife, parents, siblings, and one granddaughter.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Estates Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road (1700 West). Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 19, 2011 in the Kearns East Stake Center, 4731 South 4300 West, with a viewing prior from 9:45-10:45 a.m.
Interment at Redwood Memorial Estates.
