Roger Lee Alt,67, of Petersburg died wednrsday, July 27, 2011, at his home, He was born April 9, 1944, in Pansy and was the son of the late James Frank Alt and Stella Emily Florence Alt. Mr. Alt worked for West Virginia Power, Mount Storm, for 11 years. He worked for the Iron Workers Local 28 at the steel mill in Roanoke, VA, as a frist class welder for 12 years. He was United Methodist by faith. His wife of 36 years, Noreen (Calhoun) Alt, survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Kimberly Murphy and husband, Scott of Martinsburg; three sisters, Audrey Blosser and Martha Evans, both of Richmond, VA, and Vada Evick of Franklin; two brothers, William S. Alt of Petersburg, and Kermit Alt of Bel Air, MD; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Myrtle Berg; five brothers, Orville Alt, June Alt, O. Paul Alt and Charles P. Alt and an infant brother. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg, with Rev. Harold Cullers officiating.
