was born September 16, 1896 to Jacob Stark and Sarah Louise Maxson Stark in Canisteo Township, Dodge County, Minnesota. She attended school in Mantorville and she did domestic work for her grandmother, Fanny Maxson. In 1916 she moved to Montana to be with her brother Grant.
Laura met and married John Thomas Bauer on April 4, 1917 in Plevna, Montana at the home of her older brother, Grant Stark and his wife Elizabeth. She was a farm wife and the couple had 3 children: John Harlan born in 1918, he died as an infant and is buried in Maple Grove Cemetery, Kasson, Minnesota, Viola in 1922, who died young of pneumonia and Sarah Ann born 1928.
Laura and family moved back to Dodge County, Minnesota
where John farmed. Laura was an excellent homemaker, baker, cook and seamstress. She often baked for others and hosted many holiday family gatherings. There was always a giant ham, home baked buns, several salads, and deviled eggs. She was known for her rosettes that were created on the rosette iron from a Russian woman in Montana where Laura taught her children their religious catechism. She was a member of the Willing Workers club and North Dodge Grange. She was an active member of the Zwingle United Church of Christ, Berne, Minnesota.
Laura passed away Feburary 19, 1974 at Naeve Hospital, Albert Lea, Freeborn County, Minnesota near her daugther, Sarah Ann. She is survived several sisters and a brother and by her daughter, Sarah Ann and husband Burnell Scripture and one grandson, Burton Scripture.
Services were held at the Zwingle "Berne" Church with burial in Concord Cemetery, one block from the family home "Old" Concord, Dodge County, Minnesota.
