GRANT LEONARD STARK was born July 16, 1884 in Mantorville Township, Dodge County, Minnesota. He was the first child born to Jacob Stark and Sarah Maxson Stark. There he grew to adulthood. In 1908 he was living in Cambridge, Minnesota working with a Maxson cousin in a drug store as a clerk. From 1910-1914 he went West to the Dakotas and worked as a farm hand and later on to Plevna and Terry, Montana where he worked in a drug store.

On June 18, 1913 Grant married Elizabeth Peterson of Cambridge, Minnesota. After the wedding they moved to Montana where their daughter, Marjorie was born and also two sons who died as infants. Elizabeth died on December 3, 1918 in Minnesota during the flu epidemic.

In April of 1919 he married Anna Kathleen Schoneberger in Park Rapids, Minnesota. The family continued to live in Park Rapids and then moved to Lake Crystal where they were very active in church and community affairs. He worked as a pharmacist at Deutsch Pharmacy for 26 years.

Grant passed away from heart problems on June 12, 1950 in Lake Crystal, Minnesota. He was survived by his 4 living children: Mrs. Leo (Marjorie) Holck of Jeffers, Mrs. Raymond (Barbara) Mant of Hawaii, Michael Stark of Minneapolis and Mrs. Ishida (Patricia) of Banning, California. Burial is in Calvery Cemetery, Mankato, Minnesota beside Kathleen who died in February 1948.
