Bessie Stark Dornack Allen, 92, of Onalaska, died Saturday December 28, 1991 at the Onalaska Franciscan Care Center. She was born November 19, 1899 in Mantorville, Minnesota, the ninth child of Jacob and Sarah Maxson Stark.

She married Herman E. Dornack on November 11, 1919 in Minneapolis. He preceded her in death in 1955. Bessie married James Emmet Allen on May 19, 1962 in New Ulm, Minnesota and he preceded her in death in 1979. She was an active member of the Sand Lake Wesleyan Church.

She is survived by one son, Edward (Norma) Dornack of Onalaska; one stepson, Thomas (Vivian) Allen of Huron, S.D.; one foster daughter, Doris Thierman of Fairbanks, Alaska; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; six sisters, Fannie Stark, Mabel Kautz, Adah Frederick, Hattie Andrist, Laura Bauer, Bernice Belden; three brothers, Grant, Haven, Lawrence; two stepchildren and one step-granddaughter.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Sand Lake Wesleyan Church, Onalaska. The Rev. David Peterson officiating.

Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Kasson, Minnesota in the spring.
