He moved with his family from Sheboygan County to Colby, Clark County, Wisconsin in 1878.
By 1905 he had moved back to Greenbush, Sheboygan County. He lived in Milwaukee for a while.
Earnest took a homestead in Langlade County. There he met Irene Gertrude Schroeder, the daughter of Carl Friedrich Schroeder, who had moved to the area about 1879. Later he sold the homestead in Langlade County, and moved to Greenbush, Sheboygan, Wisconsin, where his brother Julius was living.
Earnest married Irene Gertrude Schroeder in Greenbush, Sheboygan County, on April 26, 1915. The couple lived in Greenbush, Sheboygan County, and Taycheedah, Fond Du Lac County, and Winooske, Lyndon, Sheboygan County. The couple lived in many locations in Sheboygan and Fond du Lac Counties. They had one son Ronald Sieber in 1915.
About 1941 they moved to Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin.

Final rites for Ernest C. Sieber held Wednesday.
Plymouth -- Funeral services for Ernest C. Sieber were conducted Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the Wittkopp Funeral home. The Rev. Samuel Bullough of the first Congregational Church officiated and burial was made in the Greenbush cemetery.
During the service Ms. Doris Dietsch, a company by Miss Hildegard Wilson , sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Abide With Me."
The pallbearers were Herman Abraham, Arthur Hofschild, Albert Bohnhoff, Jacob Reis, and Charles De Groff.
Present at the last rites were relatives and friends from Sheboygan, Sheboygan Falls, Greenbush, Plymouth and the surrounding vicinity.
