BICKNELL, UT - Our beloved father, grandfather, and brother, Don Emil Taylor, age 78, died May 31, 2002 at Capitol Reef National Park of a heart attack.

He was born Feb 8, 1924 in Fremont, UT a son of David Alvin and Julia Anna Morrell Taylor.

He married Afton Brinkerhoff April 2, 1942 in Bicknell, UT. They were later divorced. He served his country during World War II in the US Air Force.

Don has been in the cattle business since he came out of the service in 1946. He ran his cows on the West Henry Mountains in the winter and on the Dixie National Forest in the summer. Don came out of the service and bought into the cattle business and worked to enlarge his 300-cow permits on the Dixie. He farmed 120 acres near Bicknell and also had 120 acres of pasture land on which he ran steer calves.

He served as a board member of the Wayne County Water Users Association and the Fremont Irrigation Co, served as president of the Wayne County Cattlemen's Association and Wayne County Director of UCA.

He is survived by his children, Lana and Mett Johnson, Cedar City, Karl Don Taylor, Bicknell, Julia and Darcey Anderson, Lovettesville, VA, Jean Gillespie, Ivins; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother and sisters, Vance Taylor, DeIla Chappell, both of Fremont, Anna Dean Baker, Ontario, CA.

He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Taylor; two brothers and two sisters, Evan, Alvin, Emma, Myrle Taylor.

Services will be Wed. June 5, 2002, 1 p.m., Thurber LDS Ward Chapel, Bicknell, where friends may call for viewing Wed. 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. prior to services.

Burial, with military honors accorded by the Harold Brown American Legion Post #92, Bicknell Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made the Huntsman Cancer Institute for cancer research. Directors, Springer Turner Funeral Home, Richfield and Salina, UT.
