Marie A. Leister of Lake Charles, La., formerly of New Oxford, died Monday, June 1, in Lake Charles.

Born Oct. 10, 1919 in New Oxford, she was a daughter of the late Charles A. and Corrine B. Carbaugh Shrader. She was predeceased by her husband, Edgar W. Leister, in 1996.

Mrs. Leister was a member of First Lutheran Church, New Oxford.

She served with WACs during World War II.

She is survived by three daughters, Bonnie Istre of Westlake, La., Rose Johnson and Darleen Istre, both of Lake Charles; four sons, James Istre of Westlake, John Istre and Patrick Istre, both of Lake Charles, and Daniel Istre Sr. of Summerall, Miss.: three stepsons. Eddie Leister, Gary Leister and Larry Leister, all of New Oxford; one stepdaughter, Lucinda Baker of Upperco, Md.; three sisters, Lillian Miller of New Oxford, Corraine Smith of Irishtown, and Dorothy Kress of Littlestown; and four brothers, Robert Shrader, Earl Shrader, Edward Shrader, and Joseph Shrader, all of New Oxford. She was predeceased by one son, Anthony John Istre; two stepdaughters, Shirley Leister and Edith Cromer; and one stepson, Terry Leister.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 5, in Feiser Funeral Home Inc., 302 Lincoln Way West, New Oxford, with her pastor, the Rev. Paul A. Haack. officiating. Interment will be in New Oxford Cemetery.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 4. in the funeral home.
