Coral was born in Ellenberg, New York, and lived there until the family moved to Phelps County, Nebraska in the late 1870's. In 1881 when his mother died his oldest sister, Martha, became his guardian. The 1885 Nebraska state Census shows him enumerated with his sister and also his brother, Oliver Gordon. When his sister died the 26th of June 1885, Phillip C. Funk, was appointed his guardian. Coral was married to Dora Simmons on the 20th of December 1890. The couple had 2 children Erastus Coral born 1891, and Esther (1893 to 1894). Coral died at the young age of 23, on 28 November 1893. His widow, Dora, married again 25 May 1899 to John Voris.
