Charles A. Valentine was born in DeGraff, Ohio on the 16th of December 1872, the son of William H. and Ester Valentine. He had two older siblings, William S. that died after only 17 days, and a older sister Ammie that was three years older. His younger siblings were Mary Izella that was three years younger and Elmer that was seven years younger. Tragically, his mother died when he was only 8 years old of pneumonia. Charles married Minnie Storts on the 24th of April 1902, when he was 29 years old. Charles was employed for many years by the Springfield Street Railway Company. Charles and Minnie had four children, William, Bernice, Dorothy and Raymond. He was a member of Story-Hypes Memorial Methodist Church. Charles had been retired from the Springfield Street Railway Company for several years. He passed away at his home after several years' illness. He and Minnie had been married for almost 40 years.
