Mary Izella Valentine was born on the 5th of February 1875 in Logan County, Ohio to William H. Valentine and Ester Lippincott. She had an older sister, Ammie that was five years her senior. She also had an older brother, William S. Valentine born in 1871, that died at only 2 1/2 weeks of age. Another older brother, Charles Archibald Valentine born in 1872, that was three years older. Her baby brother, Elmer Lee. Valentine was born in 1879. Sadly, her mother, Ester passed away in 1880, only two months after Elmer was born. Ester died of pneumonia at the age of only 32. So, Mary lost her mother when she was not quite five years old. Her father remarried Lucy Bontriger only 10 months later. She married Charles Benstein and had two daughers. Vera that was born in 1896, when Mary was only 21. Another daughter soon followed in 1898, and was named Muriel. By 1920, Mary and Charles were divorced. She was living in Wayne, Michigan and moved to Farmington, Michigan by 1930. Her daugther Vera married Stanley Dixon on 01 June 1915, in Detroit, Michigan at the young age of 19. Her other daughter, Muriel married Don J. Nadean on Christmas Day 1920 in Redford, Michigan at the age of 22. Mary passed away at the Oakland County Infirmary on the 14th of March 1950 of cervical cancer at the age of 75. Mary bravely battled this cancer for a year prior to her death.
