Ammie Owalda Mathison was born in De Graff, Ohio on the 12th of November 1869 to William H. Valentine and Ester Lippincott. She had a younger brother, William S. that died at only 2 1/2 weeks of age in 1871. She had another brother, Charles that was three years younger. Her sister, Mary was born in 1875 and six years younger. Her baby brother, Elmer was born in 1879 and was a decade younger. Tragically, her mother passed away in January 1880 of pneumonia. Ammie was only 10 years old when her mother died with three younger siblings. Her father remarried only 10 months later to Lucy Bontriger. Ammie married Frank Mathison on the 3rd of March 1887, at the tender age of 18. They welcomed their first child, Ray in 1888. Only two years later, Nellie Marie (named after her mother) was born on the 20th of December 1890. In 1892, Joseph was born. Two years later, Ester (again named after her mother) was born. Frank and Ammie shared a long marriage and celebrated their golden anniversary. Ammie passed on the 5th of march 1953, at the age of 83 of a cerebral hemorrhage.
