A farmer, Aaron Cone, Jr. was born October 19, 1810 in Bulloch County, Georgia to Aaron Cone, Sr. and Susannah Hannah Marlow Cone. Aaron had eleven siblings. He was the grandson of Revolutionary War veteran William Henry Cone and Keziah Eudel Barber Cone. As a boy, Aaron accompanied famous naturalist and artist John Abbot on his explorations of Bulloch County wildlife.

On January 5, 1837 he married Clarisa Banks Cone who shortly passed away. They had one child, Robert W. Cone. On Valentine's Day, February 14, 1839 he married Sophronia Wise Cone, and they had seven children: Ann Elizabeth Cone Lanier, Sarah Jane Cone, Mary Elizabeth Cone, John William Cone, Ann Sophronia Cone, James Basil Cone, and William Henry Cone. Aaron died of cancer at age 70 on July 5, 1881 and is buried in Old Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery in Bulloch County.
