Robert W. Cone was born December 19, 1837 in Bulloch County, Georgia, the only child of Aaron Cone, Jr. and his first wife, Clarisa Banks Cone. He had seven younger half-siblings. He married Florida Williams Cone on November 10, 1860, and they had ten children: Amy E. Cone, J. A. Cone, Martha J. Cone, William H. Cone, Charles Cone, James G. Cone, Mary E. Cone, Alice Gertrude Cone, Robert R. Cone, and Roberta A. Cone. Through the Cone branch of the family, he was descended from Conn of the Hundred Battles, the first high king of Ireland.

His great-grandfather, Captain William Henry Cone, was a hero of the American Revolution. Robert died in 1895 at about age 58 in Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida and is buried somewhere in the Jacksonville area, probably near his wife in the Old Jacksonville City Cemetery.

Thanks so much to Charles A. Cone and the dozens of Cone family genealogists for much of this information. Any errors, however, are mine alone. Please go to the "edit" link on this site with any corrections or additions. I hope someone will add his photo to this site. If a closer relative than I would like to manage this burial site, please let me know.
