Cherie "cropped" the original larger photograph of the whole family in front of the Hazelton house to make this portrait of Robert. In the larger picture Robert can be seen sitting on horseback.

On the bottom, going from left to right are, William Wallace Garvin, Jr., next to father William Wallace Garvin, Sr.; Grace Grahn Garvin, sitting in the chair; Annie Bell Ham Garvin; in the baby carriage is Frank Garvin, born 1902; standing next to Frank and the carriage is Flora Garvin; sitting on the steps are Mary Vie Garvin (in white clothes) and Rebecca Garvin (wearing dark clothes). There were two reasons the family moved. Annie Bell told granddaughter Mary Frances that they left Kentucky due to the Feuds. These battles could involve innocent people in the "cross fire." It was too dangerous to remain. Also, Mary Vie Garvin told Mary Frances that the doctor had told her mother (Annie Bell) that the family had to move due to their problems with asthma. Mary told Mary Frances that the doctor told Annie Bell that if she (Annie Bell) didn't move, the asthma would kill her. Friend and neighbor Mrs. Cavanaugh gave this photograph to Annie Bell. The location was at "...block No. Ninety-seven (97), and Block No. Ninety-nine (99), in the City of Hazelton, Barber County, Kansas." The original photograph is in the personal collection of Cherie Jameison, the Owner of this Tree; it was given to her by her grandmother Annie Bell Ham Garvin, the second wife of William Wallace Garvin. NOTICE to MINORS TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, but more especially to Mary Garvin, Rebecca Garvin, William W. Garvin, Jr. and Franklin Garvin heirs at law of William W. Garvin deceased, late of Barber county, Kansas You are hereby notified that I, Robert H. Garvin Guardian of the estates of Mary Garvin, Rebecca Garvin, William W. Garvin Jr. and Franklin Garvin minor heirs of William W. Garvin deceased, did on the 15th day of May A.D. 1911 file a petition in the Probate Court of Barber County, Kansas praying that I might be authorized and empowered to sell the following described land for the purpose of support, maintenance and education of said minors. to wit: an undivided four-twentieths interest in Block No. Ninety-seven (97), and Block No., Ninety-nine (99), in the City of Hazelton, Barber County, Kansas. And said petition will be heard at the office of the Probate Judge of said county on the 5th day of June A.D. 1911 at 10 o'clock A.M. of said day at which time and place of you, and all others interested are notified to be present and show cause, if any you have, why an order of sale as prayed for, should not be granted.
