William Wallace Garvin, Jr. was born March 3, 1900 in Hazelton, Barber County, Kansas, USA.
His parents were William Wallace Garvin, Sr. (1845 – 1910), and Anna Belle Ham Garvin (1861 – 1955).

His siblings included: Florence "Flora" "Flo" (1890 – 1974); Grace Grahn (b. abt. 1893); Mary Vie (1894 – 1987); Rebecca "Becky" (1898 – 1951); Franklin "Frank" (1898 – 1951).

His father had these children by his first wife Mahulda "Huldy" Hiatt (1854 – 1884): Nora May "Norrie" (1876 – 1953); Lucy May (b. 1879); Robert Harrison (1880 – 1956); Nellie P. (1882 – 1967); and William (1884 – 1884).

U.S. Federal Census for 1900-1910 show that Wallace is residing in Hazelton, Barber, Kansas.

His WWI draft card shows him residing in 1918 in Lamar, Prowers, Colorado.

The 1920 US Federal Census shows Wallace residing with his mother and his brother Frank in Los Angeles, California.

In 1921 Wallace and Gladys Emily Vandewalker take out a marriage license in Huntington Beach, Orange County, California.

Gladys and Wallace lived in Orange County, California for the rest of their lives.
They had no children of their own, but enjoyed children in the family. When Wallace saw his young niece Cherie J., he would reach into his pocket and bring out coins to give to her.

Gladys and Wallace were social and loved to entertain their family, friends, and business associates.

One of their favorite past-times was playing cards. They played canasta and rummy within the family, and with friends they played poker.

Wallace was a great conversationalist and devoted to his family.
